Digital marketing is the strategy and process of connecting businesses with their audiences through various digital channels. These channels—such as display, search, mobile, social media, and video—are used to engage audiences in unique ways and support different goals throughout the conversion funnel. Digital marketing involves all marketing efforts that use electronic devices and the internet, enabling businesses to reach customers through search engines, social media platforms, email, and other websites. This approach allows companies to target specific audiences more effectively than traditional marketing methods, focusing on prospects who are most likely to purchase their products or services. Furthermore, digital marketing is often more cost-effective and allows for measurable performance tracking on a daily basis or as needed. Digital marketing consists of several key areas, including social media marketing, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, e-commerce marketing, mobile marketing, and email marketing. As of January 2021, Malaysia had a population of 32.57 million, with 27.43 million internet users, 28 million active social media users, and 30 million mobile connections, resulting in an internet penetration rate of 84.2%. Malaysia is recognized as a significant player in the growth of digital marketing within Southeast Asia. With digital marketing now an essential component of most industries, the demand for professionals equipped with digital skills has become a priority. The dynamic and fast-paced nature of the field makes careers in digital marketing both challenging and rewarding. While marketing can be conducted through both offline and online channels, this NOSS focuses specifically on online digital marketing. Offline marketing includes methods such as print advertising and telemarketing, and although different, both digital and offline marketing can be combined to optimize overall business performance.
